Many of our clients ask: ‘What is an accredited specialist?’, and ‘What does that mean?’.
An accredited specialist is a lawyer who is a leader in their field and has been accredited by the Law Institute of Victoria.
Accredited specialists must have a minimum of five years’ full-time practising experience and a minimum of three years of experience in their area of specialisation at the time they apply to participate in the scheme. The applicant for such accreditation must also pass a comprehensive examination process that is developed by legal professional experts.
After receiving the accreditation, an accredited specialist must maintain a high level of professional development with 12 continuing professional development hours required each year, and 8 of those hours specific to the specialisation. Accredited specialists must apply for re-accreditation every three years.
If you have a workplace problem which you believe requires a higher-level skillset, we suggest that you call us on (03) 5752 1280 and make an appointment to see Charles.
Charles has appointments available in our Myrtleford, Wangaratta and Wodonga offices.
